Halloween 2008 in Cairo - over in a flash

Happy Halloween! We had a good day yesterday – not too much, not too little, and the boys had a GREAT time! – although sometimes this holiday seems a bit out of proportion. It took almost a week to get the costumes in order, and then there’s all the crafting, decorating, cookie making and talking about Halloween. All this builds up to one single evening of getting too hot in a suit and over-eating on candy.

William summed it up pretty well this morning on our way to soccer, as we waddled through trash, candy wrappers, toilet paper and broken eggs in the street: “We waited and waited SO LONG for Halloween to be here, and now it’s already over!”

Great costumes! Halloween is the best "holiday" to be a kid. You dress up and are rewarded with free candy. Woo hoo!

Lovely Lady of La Leche, most loving mother of the Child Jesus, and my mother, listen to my humble prayer. Your motherly heart knows my every wish, my every need. To you only, His spotless Virgin Mother, has your Divine Son given to understand the sentiments which fill my soul. Yours was the sacred privilege of being the Mother of the Savior. Intercede with him now, my loving Mother, that, in accordance with His will, I may become the mother of other children of our heavenly Father. This I ask, O Lady of La Leche, in the Name of your Divine Son, My Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
