The end of a busy week

This past week has been rather busy for us, yet not a lot of the issues that were causing our busyness have been resolved. Due to major bank-problems – or rather, Egyptian communication problems – we suddenly lost access to cash and credit cards, and I was therefore not able to go to the embassy the other day to renew my passport. With thousands of dollars in the bank, we had to go through the boys’ wallets to find money to buy milk! Although the problems have not been resolved, we've managed to get enough money to at least keep us floating over the next week, and hopefully – “In Sha Allah” as the bank administrator so cleverly put it –everything will be sorted by the end of next week.

All the complications not having access to cash causes aside (I also had to postpone getting our non-affiliate card for the CAC), we have managed to get through a few other things, such as finding an OBGYN and acquiring tickets for the CAC Halloween Parade. In addition, the boys have made great progress academically. August is reading more fluently, and has finally started to master handwriting; it doesn’t take him forever to write short paragraphs anymore, which makes a lot of his other work much easier. William is specifically doing very well with math, and has pretty much finished his first grade work book!

Something really great also happened this week: a lady whose husband works with my husband called and told me that a friend of hers was getting rid of a bunch of baby stuff, and asked if I was interested. I called the friend, who came by a couple of days later with a ton of things; clothes, cloth diapers, bouncy chairs (one pink and one blue), a mobile, and a few other things. Whatever we don’t want or need, we can pass on to somebody else who might need it. I’ve received baby clothes and other items from friends in the past, but this was a complete stranger, and she was so amazingly nice! Occasionally encountering friendliness like this truly makes me believe in the goodness of mankind.

I’m glad it’s Thursday night. Things will start all over again on Saturday with sports, and then Sunday is the beginning of another equally busy week, but at least for now – tonight and tomorrow – we get to have a rest.

Lovely Lady of La Leche, most loving mother of the Child Jesus, and my mother, listen to my humble prayer. Your motherly heart knows my every wish, my every need. To you only, His spotless Virgin Mother, has your Divine Son given to understand the sentiments which fill my soul. Yours was the sacred privilege of being the Mother of the Savior. Intercede with him now, my loving Mother, that, in accordance with His will, I may become the mother of other children of our heavenly Father. This I ask, O Lady of La Leche, in the Name of your Divine Son, My Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
