When life in Egypt is nothing special

I’ve uploaded a couple of pictures and added them to various posts. I don’t take as many pictures as I would like any more. My friend Ms. Four makes a very good point about this in her blog “If you live anywhere long enough, life becomes normal. Even in Egypt.” There are so many things I used to react to, thinking “that is so weird/interesting/different/remarkable” but now, I’ve seen and experienced most of these things so many times, I’d feel funny photographing, or I imagine that I could just take the picture any other time.

Also, we haven’t been going on as many trips or outings this year. Partially because we’re trying to hold back money-wise, partially because I don’t have as much energy these days, but also because our normal life has somehow taken over; with soccer every Saturday morning, work, school, other sports, socials, shopping, and housework, time seems somehow to be more sparse. We’re happy though, to take things slow for now, and if next year turns out to be our last year in Egypt, I know we will make an effort to more actively explore this amazing country.

In the meantime, here’s a picture – for a change – of something we do several times every week, and that I don’t really think twice of anymore, but that I know I will miss when one day we leave; a quiet afternoon by the pool with the boys. The fact that it's late October, sunny and 28 degrees C outside is just -- fantastic!

Lovely Lady of La Leche, most loving mother of the Child Jesus, and my mother, listen to my humble prayer. Your motherly heart knows my every wish, my every need. To you only, His spotless Virgin Mother, has your Divine Son given to understand the sentiments which fill my soul. Yours was the sacred privilege of being the Mother of the Savior. Intercede with him now, my loving Mother, that, in accordance with His will, I may become the mother of other children of our heavenly Father. This I ask, O Lady of La Leche, in the Name of your Divine Son, My Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
