Books around our house

Every morning I walk around the house and pick things up. The husband and the boys will have left dishes on the coffee table, shoes in the living room, clothes on the couch, toys on the floor, and books-books-books all over. I know I shouldn’t have to do this – especially the husband should be able to put his own stuff away – but I’m sure I’m not the only woman in the world who does this, and the fact is, that if I don’t, the house would quickly turn into a disaster, which I can’t stand. Although a few things here and there probably wouldn’t hurt us, I know from experience that those fifteen minutes every morning are necessary to prevent hours of cleaning and sorting every week. So I pick up.

When I came downstairs yesterday, things weren’t so bad, but a couple of books had been left on the coffee table, and I couldn’t help but smile when I thought of how representative they looked of what goes on here at night; William is learning to read, and my husband is a philosophy professor.

I'm pretty sure that picking up after one's husband is covered in the wedding vows. LOL

I noticed on your sidebar that you're reading "The know-it-all" by A. J. Jacobs. I bought a copy during my last trip home and have it in my TBR pile. What did you think? Good read?

I think I enjoyed his book on living one year biblically more. This one is good reading for me for the moment though, because there are a lot of little funny things one can enjoy now and then, and my reading time this past week has been very interrupted. Also, I just read a very heavy series - four volumes of midieval history - so this is a nice interlude. Hope you enjoy it!

Lovely Lady of La Leche, most loving mother of the Child Jesus, and my mother, listen to my humble prayer. Your motherly heart knows my every wish, my every need. To you only, His spotless Virgin Mother, has your Divine Son given to understand the sentiments which fill my soul. Yours was the sacred privilege of being the Mother of the Savior. Intercede with him now, my loving Mother, that, in accordance with His will, I may become the mother of other children of our heavenly Father. This I ask, O Lady of La Leche, in the Name of your Divine Son, My Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
