Richard Quest; a great CNN profile

Courtney & I always had a bit of a love-hate relationship to Richard Quest, having followed his career within CNN since he started in 2001. He was - is a fantastic news anchor, and his voice, recognizable anywhere is very captive but can, at times, also appear very annoying. Hearing him gives me the same feeling I get when I watch Rowan Atkinson or John Cleese; he's a great actor, funny, but by God I can't stand watching him make a fool out of himself over and over again - it's too painful! Richard Quest does not make a fool out of himself, or at least he hasn't in the past, but there's something about his majestic, charismatic, dramatic appearance that you can only take so much of.

Courtney & I were both stunned to find out last night (from Jay Leno, of all) that Richard Quest had been arrested in Central Park last Friday. Apparently he was initially stopped because he was spotted in the park after closing, but as it turned out he was carrying drugs, and, claims the New York Post, had a rope around his neck that was tied to his genitals, and a sex toy in his boot. As if trying to explain this odd constellation, the New York Post added to their article

"[Quest] was reportedly once offered a position for the English-language version of

the controversial Al Jazeera network, but said he turned it down

because being gay and Jewish, he didn't think it would be a good fit".

How annoying. The New York Post article, that is. I want Richard Quest back on CNN, and articles like this are just unnecessary.
