Temporary widow with a sore throat and three active boys

For over two weeks I’ve been sick; the sore throat turned into a cold, which turned into a sinus infection, which turned back into a cold, and now I’m stuck with a sore throat. I don’t feel really sick, just tired, and frustrated that I can’t go work out or running. Karl-Abraham is seemingly unaffected by my poor state, which is positive, and the boys got over the cold that they were struggling with for a while. Courtney, thank God, never really got sick, and hopefully he will escape it all together.

Courtney left for Hong Kong this morning. He is going to participate in an International Kant conference, where he will present a paper that was selected out of a much larger amount of submissions. It will be the first time since we moved to Cairo that he is reuniting with his promoter and mentor, and it’s the first time ever one of us Fugates is flying to Asia. It’s far; he left our house this morning, and the next time he’ll see a shower or a bed will be tomorrow early afternoon. In Sha Allah. He’ll be gone for a week, and we already miss him. Practically I do fine on my own, even with three homeschooling boys (whereof one is an infant), but life’s just better with Courtney here (although our floors has fewer clothes on them). The upside is that with three homeschooling boys, time will go by very quickly. We’ve already had a full day of learning; Math, English and history today, which included the movie ‘Mongol’ about Kublai Khan, and in a while it’s time for baseball practice.

I hope you feel better soon!

What is Courtney bringing you back as a gift?

Lovely Lady of La Leche, most loving mother of the Child Jesus, and my mother, listen to my humble prayer. Your motherly heart knows my every wish, my every need. To you only, His spotless Virgin Mother, has your Divine Son given to understand the sentiments which fill my soul. Yours was the sacred privilege of being the Mother of the Savior. Intercede with him now, my loving Mother, that, in accordance with His will, I may become the mother of other children of our heavenly Father. This I ask, O Lady of La Leche, in the Name of your Divine Son, My Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
