We found another OBGYN, and it's all coming together!

“Well, well, well; whaddayeknow?!” as William likes to say: last night we went to see this other doctor that our OBGYN had recommended, Dr. May, and she was absolutely great.

At first, neither Courtney nor I liked her. There was no polite talk, no referral questions, and no initial introduction. She started out by asking me what kind of vitamins I take, and when I told her “Centrum” she commenced lecturing us on the importance of certain minerals, folic acid, etc. during pregnancy, and did not leave us any chance to add the other five things I take, that together with the Centrum, according to our research, make the perfect pregnancy cocktail for me. In retrospective I almost had the feeling she was acting a certain way - knowledgeable and authoritative – because she felt a need to 'prove' to us that she was as worthy as a male doctor. After we talked to her for a while though, I think she realized that we know what we are doing (between the two of us, after all, we have about 20 years of university studies!); she loosened up, and both of us started thinking that she's really quite good. Towards the end of our long discussion, we felt very comfortable with her. She was more straightforward than our other doctor, and she worked through every single detail of the process, even leaving a lot of the choices up to us. She gave us all the information we needed without us having to ask many questions at all – with our other doctor, who ironically enough turns out to be her ex-husband to top off the comedy in this, I had to pretty much extract everything. We left the office positively surprised, and concluded that, although I would recommend Dr. Tareq to anyone, she was probably even better for us. A friend, who has had some experience with this particular doctor, summed it up pretty well this morning: if you’re looking for peoples skills, you might want to find someone else, but if you know what you need and you want it to be effective and rational, she’s your doctor!

I never had a female OBGYN before, but I feel everything is falling into place. We walked out of her office very confident: "See you next Thursday!"

So that’s it. One week to go.

I was referred to Dr May by our support company a few weeks ago. I have had two appointments with her and found her to be very straight to the point as well. While it took me by surprise on our first meeting I really like her. I really appreciated her listening to me about my thoughts on her treatment plan.

Lovely Lady of La Leche, most loving mother of the Child Jesus, and my mother, listen to my humble prayer. Your motherly heart knows my every wish, my every need. To you only, His spotless Virgin Mother, has your Divine Son given to understand the sentiments which fill my soul. Yours was the sacred privilege of being the Mother of the Savior. Intercede with him now, my loving Mother, that, in accordance with His will, I may become the mother of other children of our heavenly Father. This I ask, O Lady of La Leche, in the Name of your Divine Son, My Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
