It’s the US Presidential Election night; or at least here in Cairo, Egypt – in the US it’s still election afternoon. My husband & I have stocked up on soda and candy. A lot of our friends here have vividly been discussing the election over the past few weeks – most of them appear to be Obama followers – and Courtney & I have been following the campaigns on CNN, msnbc, and whatever other news channels Orbit has been offering us. Tonight, Courtney is staying up to watch television as the results start coming in, and Orbit is actually offering two extra news channels just for the occasion. As many problems as we’ve had with this God-forgotten satellite television provider, I’ve got to give them credit for this. I’m not sure what we need four or five news channels for just to follow one presidential election, but it’s a nice gesture.
I myself am not allowed to cast my vote in the American presidential election, but over the past few weeks, I have actually been reading up on the candidates, the parties, the system and the movements, and now I can’t really blame my indecisiveness on ignorance any more. I don’t know for sure that I would vote for Obama, but I am very curious to find out what the American people thinks (although I’m not sure I’ll be able to stay up and wait for the results tonight): may the best candidate win!

Lovely Lady of La Leche, most loving mother of the Child Jesus, and my mother, listen to my humble prayer. Your motherly heart knows my every wish, my every need. To you only, His spotless Virgin Mother, has your Divine Son given to understand the sentiments which fill my soul. Yours was the sacred privilege of being the Mother of the Savior. Intercede with him now, my loving Mother, that, in accordance with His will, I may become the mother of other children of our heavenly Father. This I ask, O Lady of La Leche, in the Name of your Divine Son, My Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
