Since the boys were sick and I had my allergy episode, Courtney got sick too. He has what we for various reasons suspect is a microbe that has caused quite a bit of abdominal discomfort as well as prompted very frequent wash room visits, as not to get too graphic. He’s slowly getting over it. As the law of nature has it, he had a paper due this week and didn’t quite make the deadline.
Whenever I mention to female friends that my husband is sick, they get a serious look of sympathy and understanding on their faces, and say “Oh, don’t worry about not calling/not bringing anything/not being able to do all those things; husbands make the worst patients!” I wouldn’t say the babying has been that bad (this time around) though, but rather it’s *having to do everything, absolutely everything by myself* that has thrown me off. It’s usually pretty bad as it is because Courtney spends all his available time on his thesis leaving most of the house work – cooking, cleaning, laundry shopping, organizing - and child tending to me, but at least once in a while I get a bit of a break – now with the illness, I am on my own. Of course, I’m managing, but I also have to prioritize and not all regular features make the cut. Among other things, blogging and keeping up with current events suffer. Bear with me though, dear readers; like anything, this too will pass.

Lovely Lady of La Leche, most loving mother of the Child Jesus, and my mother, listen to my humble prayer. Your motherly heart knows my every wish, my every need. To you only, His spotless Virgin Mother, has your Divine Son given to understand the sentiments which fill my soul. Yours was the sacred privilege of being the Mother of the Savior. Intercede with him now, my loving Mother, that, in accordance with His will, I may become the mother of other children of our heavenly Father. This I ask, O Lady of La Leche, in the Name of your Divine Son, My Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
