Maadi Community Choir Spring Choral Concert coming up!

Earlier this year I joined the Maadi Community Choir, and we rehearse every Wednesday night. It’s a small choir, and it has been a long time since I sang like this, but I enjoy it very much. It’s one of the few activities I have that involves only me, as in 'neither husband nor children'. It’s serious enough to be challenging but there’s also a lot of humor involved. The people I sing with are all from various backgrounds and interesting, and our director is very professional.

Our concert is in about a week, and we have two more rehearsals before then. I’m hoping that the fact I’m not the only one performing will scare away the stage freight I seem to have developed in the past few years. I love singing and do it quite a bit with our downstairs neighbors and friends (and if I may, I’m not half bad either!), but last time I tried to perform I froze up and lost my ability to sing entirely.

If any of you are in Maadi beginning of next week, and you enjoy choral entertainment, then you are very welcome to come and watch the (hopefully uneventful) spectacle "Spring Choral Concert" directed by Barbara Comar on May 5 & 6, 2008 at 7:30 pm at the St. John the Baptist Church (Maadi Community Church) corner of Road 17 and Port Said. In sha Allah!

Lovely Lady of La Leche, most loving mother of the Child Jesus, and my mother, listen to my humble prayer. Your motherly heart knows my every wish, my every need. To you only, His spotless Virgin Mother, has your Divine Son given to understand the sentiments which fill my soul. Yours was the sacred privilege of being the Mother of the Savior. Intercede with him now, my loving Mother, that, in accordance with His will, I may become the mother of other children of our heavenly Father. This I ask, O Lady of La Leche, in the Name of your Divine Son, My Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
