There are so many cats in Maadi that, as a cat lover, you simply have to ignore them or you would find yourself doing nothing else but helping cats. I’ve been doing very well until today. Yesterday morning a cat gave birth to four kittens in a box on Nate & Eden’s patio; later in the day she moved, but took only three of the kittens with her, leaving one behind. The kitten still had the umbilical cord and was obviously no more than a day old. After waiting for about 8 hours to see if perhaps the mother would return (she never did), Eden finally went out and brought the half frozen kitten inside. This morning she brought it to a lady at the CAC, who usually would take care of it. Today she said she couldn't however since she already had too many for the moment, and could Eden come back in a week or so?
Eden asked if we would take care of the kitten and I couldn’t help myself; so here I am, bottle-feeding a cat that the boys quickly for unknown reasons named Bruce, every two hours or so, rubbing it to evacuate its bowel and bladder, and keeping it warm with a hot water bottle. I’ve been trying to read up on how to best care for Bruce, and although it seems like a bit of work, I think the real challenge is going to be not keeping him.

Lovely Lady of La Leche, most loving mother of the Child Jesus, and my mother, listen to my humble prayer. Your motherly heart knows my every wish, my every need. To you only, His spotless Virgin Mother, has your Divine Son given to understand the sentiments which fill my soul. Yours was the sacred privilege of being the Mother of the Savior. Intercede with him now, my loving Mother, that, in accordance with His will, I may become the mother of other children of our heavenly Father. This I ask, O Lady of La Leche, in the Name of your Divine Son, My Lord and Redeemer. Amen.

Goodness - I think you're right. It's so hard to resist a kitten in distress. Ended up with several over the years myself, thanks to kids who just had to bring them home!
