Stomach flu in the Fugate household

It seemed like the past week would never end but in the end it went by very quickly. Sunday night I woke up around 4 am from something wet and sticky gushing all over my back and hair. A second later August sat up in my bed and said “mama, I threw up”. This was the beginning of a 2 day stomach flu; both August and I were sick; upset stomach, fever, and total exhaustion. William was a real trooper; on the worst day he ran up and down the stairs with clean underwear for August, water for me, towels, as we each occupied a bathroom. Eventually he sat down next to me and said “mama, I’m really, really hungry. Can we order something?” It was indeed a little easier to be sick here in Egypt because everybody – all stores and restaurants - delivers. As long as you have money in the house, you don’t have to go out. So William ordered in.

As soon as we had recovered, by Thursday, we went out and at the CAC Egyptian festival, William got to choose a galabeya (see picture) for himself. When we came home that night, Courtney got the flu, and has been out all weekend (as have a couple of our friends). Today, the first day of the week, everything is back to normal. Il Hamdulillaeh.

Lovely Lady of La Leche, most loving mother of the Child Jesus, and my mother, listen to my humble prayer. Your motherly heart knows my every wish, my every need. To you only, His spotless Virgin Mother, has your Divine Son given to understand the sentiments which fill my soul. Yours was the sacred privilege of being the Mother of the Savior. Intercede with him now, my loving Mother, that, in accordance with His will, I may become the mother of other children of our heavenly Father. This I ask, O Lady of La Leche, in the Name of your Divine Son, My Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
