Finding a Thanksgiving turkey in Cairo, Egypt

The past couple of weeks have been very, very busy and we didn’t even have our Thanksgiving dinner yet. Since we went away for the weekend, we will celebrate a proper Thanksgiving on Saturday. I’m currently trying to figure out where I can acquire a turkey. I did see turkeys at the souk, however I’m still growing into the whole idea of choosing a live foul and then watching it get slaughtered and plucked, so I would much prefer if I could get a turkey, ready-to-cook, somewhere else. If worse comes to worse, I might settle for a couple of large chickens. At least we’ll have football on TV (Orbit does, if few other things, broadcast college football), and I think I saw cranberry sauce at Myriam’s Market.

Lovely Lady of La Leche, most loving mother of the Child Jesus, and my mother, listen to my humble prayer. Your motherly heart knows my every wish, my every need. To you only, His spotless Virgin Mother, has your Divine Son given to understand the sentiments which fill my soul. Yours was the sacred privilege of being the Mother of the Savior. Intercede with him now, my loving Mother, that, in accordance with His will, I may become the mother of other children of our heavenly Father. This I ask, O Lady of La Leche, in the Name of your Divine Son, My Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
