William knows how to enjoy a Friday (Thursday) night in Maadi (Cairo), Egypt
Last night, our “Friday night” as Courtney calls it although it was only Thursday night (but since Friday and Saturday are weekend days here it still feels like a Friday night), we ordered Pay-per-view or TV MAX as they call it here, upon the boys' request, and watched Night at the Museum with Ben Stiller. Towards the end of the movie William burst out “I’m starving!” and started “reading” the take-out menus we have acquired over this past month, murmuring the odd words “hamburger” and “chicken” now and then, appearing as if he was choosing. We had had a meager dinner a couple of hours earlier, lean bean burritos, and everybody felt a bit snacky, so instead of ordering something (or cook something, all of us feeling end-of-the-working-week-tired), we decided to go out. We ended up at the local Shanghai family restaurant and had a bunch of appetizers accompanied by beer and water. After lots of rice, prawn crackers, sweet & sour chicken, five perfumed beef, spring rolls and mixed vegetables, William leaned back in his chair and said “I want to go to bed now” with a content smile on his face. It was 9:30 pm, so we walked the 2 busy blocks home - children playing in the streets, men, women, elderly, westeners; everybody out talking, eating, shopping and laughing, lights blinking, music playing - and went to bed. After a little over 8 solid hour hours of sleep, I woke up at 06:25 to another sunny and warm day in Egypt, looking forward to meeting some of our new friends for lunch today; another exciting weekend in our new Egyptian lives.

Lovely Lady of La Leche, most loving mother of the Child Jesus, and my mother, listen to my humble prayer. Your motherly heart knows my every wish, my every need. To you only, His spotless Virgin Mother, has your Divine Son given to understand the sentiments which fill my soul. Yours was the sacred privilege of being the Mother of the Savior. Intercede with him now, my loving Mother, that, in accordance with His will, I may become the mother of other children of our heavenly Father. This I ask, O Lady of La Leche, in the Name of your Divine Son, My Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
