Sunset over the Nile as viewed from a TGI Friday's

Today the boys & I met Courtney, who had been to the AUC campus downtown for a meeting, by the Maadi metro station, to walk through the market behind the tracks; with a smell that was an interesting blend of sun-heated blood, smoke, rotting fruit and spices, we wondered around staring at chickens and rabbits in cages, ready for slaughter, mountains of fruit, bags of charcoal, large sacks of cotton, iron pots, mended shoes, roasting chickens and skewers, bags with grains, beans and spices, pieces of cow or sheep hanging from hooks in ceilings, and everything else you could ever or not even imagine. It made the Leuven Friday market look like Harrods, and we loved it.

After this fantastic Arab cultural experience, we rounded off the evening with an outdoor dinner in a genuine Egyptian TGI Friday’s restaurant on the Nile, while watching the sunset.

Lovely Lady of La Leche, most loving mother of the Child Jesus, and my mother, listen to my humble prayer. Your motherly heart knows my every wish, my every need. To you only, His spotless Virgin Mother, has your Divine Son given to understand the sentiments which fill my soul. Yours was the sacred privilege of being the Mother of the Savior. Intercede with him now, my loving Mother, that, in accordance with His will, I may become the mother of other children of our heavenly Father. This I ask, O Lady of La Leche, in the Name of your Divine Son, My Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
