Two weeks = gone, just like that?

I can’t believe it has been two weeks since I wrote my last blog post. We’ve been so busy, but I didn’t realized that it has been so long. Usually we’ll have a few really busy days, but then there’s an opportunity to regroup and regain; this time it has just been going and going for two weeks.

First there was our trip to the beach. It wasn’t as hot as usual, but warm enough to spend the days on the beach and swim, which is all I need. The breeze and lower (78 or so degrees Farenheit, or 26-28 degrees if you’re into Celsius) temperature were deceiving though; I left Ain Sukhna with a lobster-red burned and sore back. Apart from the bickering Courtney and I for some reason engaged in throughout our vacation, it was a nice break. Fresh air is such a treat, the kids had a blast, and I got to read books and didn’t have to cook or clean for three whole days.

When we got back it was Easter weekend, and we spend most of the time with our neighbors. We did various dinners, drinks, socials, Eggs Benedict on Easter morning, Easter Bunny treats, egg hunts, crafting, etc. and suddenly the weekend was over. Monday was Sham El Nessim, and on Tuesday we had a couple of friends over for dinner that we don’t see very often. One of them moved back to the US last year. Then suddenly it was Wednesday, which is our half school day because we meet with other homeschooling families in the afternoon. Thursday we finally got a good amount of schoolwork done, and then, well; it was weekend again. Tennis on Friday morning, lunch at an Italian restaurant, shopping, cleaning up, laundry, kids-kids-kids – our house was filled with friends of our kids, playing, messing up what I had just cleaned, and then wow; today went by even faster.

The boys had their first baseball game of the season this morning. They are on the Red Sox team, which my husband is coaching, and today they swept the feet off the Yankees. August got three kids out, playing first base. Both boys got really nice hits, and Courtney did a good job pitching. The team was rewarded with nice treats afterwards, and we went home for 1/a nap (Abraham and Courtney) 2/cartoons and a bit of playing with friends (the boys), and 3/housework and a cream soda I found at Seoudi’s last time I went shopping (me). In the afternoon we went to the Maadi House Fair (games, jumping castles, cotton candy, hot dogs, beer, popcorn, and lots of kids!) and then the boys had their tennis lesson. After dinner, baths, and starting to clean up, I am now exhausted, and wonder how I’m going to finish up the last bits and wake up ready and fresh in the morning, good for another week.

Lovely Lady of La Leche, most loving mother of the Child Jesus, and my mother, listen to my humble prayer. Your motherly heart knows my every wish, my every need. To you only, His spotless Virgin Mother, has your Divine Son given to understand the sentiments which fill my soul. Yours was the sacred privilege of being the Mother of the Savior. Intercede with him now, my loving Mother, that, in accordance with His will, I may become the mother of other children of our heavenly Father. This I ask, O Lady of La Leche, in the Name of your Divine Son, My Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
