Other people that had the same food poisoning my husband had got tested, and it turns out it IS Typhoid Fever. We suspected this all along – although we were very skeptical in the beginning: “Wait; isn’t that an illness that only spreads in poor, underdeveloped countries?” - and then, “Oh *yeah*, I guess it COULD be possible!” The symptoms are very specific, and my husband’s was a textbook case. Thankfully, he started taking medication early, preventing the second stage from kicking in.
Or, at least we were thankful, until we started doing research on the medication he was taking. Turns out it has proven to cause all kinds of unpleasantries, such as nerve damage and sudden death, at an alarming degree, and it is in fact banned in any other country.
So, at the moment, my husband is fine, but it is very possible that he is still carrying the bacteria, which is why we are looking into getting a medicine that can kill it, permanently, without hurting him. We have had offers from people coming from the US in the next week, who say they can bring us stuff, but it’s not easy to take them up on their offer, when you don’t know what to ask for.
We’ll keep you posted.

I have a friend who is a doctor-dude for the Navy. Perhaps I'll ask him if he has any suggestions...he's like a disease-guy who knows stuff about diseases.
Don't I just sounds smart that I can't remember his title...
He's not an MD, but he's a PhD in...diseases. Yeeeeeeah.
I'll go email him now.
