Culture, food, colds, dryers, glasses, teeth, and ketchup

End of last week we all got hit by a cold. All except for Courtney who started his today, just in time for the beginning of the semester. It's not a bad one, but enough to numb any exceptional activities. We still managed to go see Grease, the musical, at CAC on Friday. It was great, and the boys had such a good time! in the evening we had dinner at the Maadi House, and the boys watched the outdoor movie "Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs," which apparently was not much like the book with the same title, William's favorite. On Saturday we baked cupcakes (for no good reason), Courtney took the boys to tennis, and afterwards we went with our neighbors to the Chinese restaurant again. This time we stayed away from the soups, but had some funky fish instead, crab, too sweet and strange-tasting duck, and really amazing shrimp.

End of last week I also got to pick up my new glasses (my old ones broke the week before), and the appliances repair men came to pick up my dead dryer. Luckily I had done a lot of laundry right before it stopped working so I didn't have any piles around - now, four days later however, I do. Semah, the man in charge, has promised me I will have it back tomorrow or the next day at the very latest. In the meantime we've got clothes hanging everywhere around the house, amidst tissues, book, books, and books spread out everywhere anyone has been sitting or resting, water bottles, toys, and other things that pile up instantly when I sit down for more than a moment.

Amidst all this, William finally lost a second tooth, and Abraham, following in August's footsteps, fell in love with ketchup!

Lovely Lady of La Leche, most loving mother of the Child Jesus, and my mother, listen to my humble prayer. Your motherly heart knows my every wish, my every need. To you only, His spotless Virgin Mother, has your Divine Son given to understand the sentiments which fill my soul. Yours was the sacred privilege of being the Mother of the Savior. Intercede with him now, my loving Mother, that, in accordance with His will, I may become the mother of other children of our heavenly Father. This I ask, O Lady of La Leche, in the Name of your Divine Son, My Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
