Accidental Friday

My six year old, William, just ran his head through the window in their bedroom (trying to impress a girl, no doubt). Glass flew everywhere, and when I started to look through his hair for injuries, I got a handful of glass splinters. Trying to figure out where the blood came from, I finally found the cut. Part of his scalp had been filleted off. After washing the splinters out of his hair I took a closer look and decided the cut was not deep enough for stitches. I cleaned the wound carefully and peeled the skin flap back on. It doesn’t look that bad now. William is such a lucky boy! (Of course all this happened as I was getting ready to feed everyone.)

As it was the window in the boys’ room that had broken, I immediately had to deal with the cleaning up and getting the university housing service to come and put a new window in. I hate bothering them on a Friday, but they came almost immediately, took the frame, and promised to be back with a new window around dinner time. Insha Allah.

While I was upstairs cleaning up glass, Abraham crawled into the kitchen to the open dishwasher I was in the middle of emptying before everything happened, and started taking plates out and throwing them on the floor. The loud crashing sound of our IKEA porcelain quickly brought him to tears and screams, and all was quite a mess for a while.

Now Abraham is napping, the older boys are at the neighbors’, and I can finally finish making those Swedish cinnamon rolls (bullar) I started hours ago.

They better appreciate all what you do for them when they grow up. Insha Allah :)

Holy cow! What a day for you! Hopefully tomorrow goes a bit (or, ya know, a lot) better!

I hope William's feeling okay.

hard day.... happens sometimes. I wish you only good days! ;O)

Lovely Lady of La Leche, most loving mother of the Child Jesus, and my mother, listen to my humble prayer. Your motherly heart knows my every wish, my every need. To you only, His spotless Virgin Mother, has your Divine Son given to understand the sentiments which fill my soul. Yours was the sacred privilege of being the Mother of the Savior. Intercede with him now, my loving Mother, that, in accordance with His will, I may become the mother of other children of our heavenly Father. This I ask, O Lady of La Leche, in the Name of your Divine Son, My Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
