Revisiting Cairo sites with visiting friends

After a busy Easter break followed by a busy week of visitors, we are trying to get back to work today. My ‘to-do list’ has too many items on it, some of which are quite time consuming (such as going back to the US Embassy to continue the application process for Karl-Abraham’s passport), but I’m trying to plan one thing at a time.
Although quite busy, it has been a couple of fun weeks, especially these past six days while our visitors were here. The boys and I went with them to quite a few sites; Dashur, Sakkara, Memphis, the Pyramids and the Sphinx, Coptic Cairo and the Citadel, and we had fun sightseeing in our own city, showing our friends around. Karl-Abraham received a lot of attention wherever we went – people here really have a thing for babies. I’m not sure about breastfeeding in public though, so to make sure I didn’t offend anyone, I found a restroom whenever he needed to eat. I carry him in a sling, which makes him very easy to bring, but kind of weird when people come up to look at him.

Anyways; apart from a week in delightful company with fun meals, chats and everything one does with good friends, I got to take a couple of pictures of all three boys in front of the pyramids, and we all got a nice dose of Egyptian history.

Breastfeeding in public in Cairo is more acceptable than in America, strangly enough. I once saw an Egyptian women whip out her whole breast before feeding her baby in front of the geletan shop on Nasr street. I was in shock, but my Egyptian husband didn't think anything of it.

But, like you, I would still prefer not to gain any 'bad' attention.

Lovely Lady of La Leche, most loving mother of the Child Jesus, and my mother, listen to my humble prayer. Your motherly heart knows my every wish, my every need. To you only, His spotless Virgin Mother, has your Divine Son given to understand the sentiments which fill my soul. Yours was the sacred privilege of being the Mother of the Savior. Intercede with him now, my loving Mother, that, in accordance with His will, I may become the mother of other children of our heavenly Father. This I ask, O Lady of La Leche, in the Name of your Divine Son, My Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
