Fayoum - Thanksgiving weekend 2008

We got back from Fayoum last night. It was a good trip although it entailed a few dissapointments (for some very Egyptian reasons, we were not able to visit Wadi El-Hitan, the Whale valley, which was to be the highlight of the trip.) All in all though, I'm happy we went, and I'm particularily glad we have today, Saturday, to recover.

I will write more about the trip when time allows; for now, here are a couple of pictures.

This is the closest we got to Wadi El-Hitan...

The Old Kingdom pyramid of Lahum (I think. I will double check.)

Fayoum waterfalls

Anywhere we went we were guarded by armed police men

The boys are collecting 40 million year old fossils in the Fayoum desert

That sucks that you didn't get to go to Wadi El-Hitan! :( Great photos!! :)

Lovely Lady of La Leche, most loving mother of the Child Jesus, and my mother, listen to my humble prayer. Your motherly heart knows my every wish, my every need. To you only, His spotless Virgin Mother, has your Divine Son given to understand the sentiments which fill my soul. Yours was the sacred privilege of being the Mother of the Savior. Intercede with him now, my loving Mother, that, in accordance with His will, I may become the mother of other children of our heavenly Father. This I ask, O Lady of La Leche, in the Name of your Divine Son, My Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
