Ten years ago, Google Inc. and Citigroup were created, Frank Sinatra died, Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky’s affair was revealed, Mark McGwire broke Roger Maris’ single-season homerun hit record, The Yankees won the World Series, Pokémon was released in the US, and the Professor and I got married.
My memories of the day are somewhat vague. It was a tiny wedding in a small town in northern Indiana, and I wore a white dress bought on sale at Sears. (We were poor, poor students still.) We got married by the county clerk in the court house and then had a modest picnic with our closest family in the city park. It was a hot, beautiful day, and we took pictures in front of Center lake. What I do remember clearly though– of all the things – is how happy I felt; completely, utterly, amazingly happy.
Today, ten years down the road, looking at my husband, I still feel the same; completely, utterly, amazingly happy.
Happy anniversary, honey!

Lovely Lady of La Leche, most loving mother of the Child Jesus, and my mother, listen to my humble prayer. Your motherly heart knows my every wish, my every need. To you only, His spotless Virgin Mother, has your Divine Son given to understand the sentiments which fill my soul. Yours was the sacred privilege of being the Mother of the Savior. Intercede with him now, my loving Mother, that, in accordance with His will, I may become the mother of other children of our heavenly Father. This I ask, O Lady of La Leche, in the Name of your Divine Son, My Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
