Watching foreign television; very few great moments
Having lived abroad for so long, I’ve gotten used to missing great television shows, interviews or media events. We found out about 9/11 by trying to view short recordings online, but the internet was so overloaded that only still images and basic text was available the first few days after the attack. We watched parts of President George Bush’s inauguration on CNN World the next day, and caught some very few moments of the White Sox winning the World Series a couple of years ago. All of these
are events we would have followed closely had we had access to proper broadcasting. We still watch television almost every day, but will usually just catch ordinary shows or last season’s series. Once in a while, it’s rare but it happens, do we catch something that’s worth mentioning. When we do though, it’s a joy, and today I had one of those moments. I sat down right after dinner to have tea and when I turned on CNN World Edition, the Jon Stewart show was on. Who was not the guest, to my great excitement, but Jimmy Carter, our former U.S. President who very recently visited Cairo! He was promoting his book “A remarkable mother” and talked briefly about his visit in the Middle East. Jimmy Carter has an amazing charisma, and even though the interview was short, it was funny and interesting enough that I thought it worth mentioning.

Lovely Lady of La Leche, most loving mother of the Child Jesus, and my mother, listen to my humble prayer. Your motherly heart knows my every wish, my every need. To you only, His spotless Virgin Mother, has your Divine Son given to understand the sentiments which fill my soul. Yours was the sacred privilege of being the Mother of the Savior. Intercede with him now, my loving Mother, that, in accordance with His will, I may become the mother of other children of our heavenly Father. This I ask, O Lady of La Leche, in the Name of your Divine Son, My Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
