On the art of blogging; a critical attempt
While reading through a few of my old blog posts I noticed that I often blog about specific occurrences but that the story of our life in Cairo, Egypt doesn’t flow the way I’d like it to. I don’t think I describe our everyday life here very well, and as interesting as anecdotes and trips are, they don’t give the complete picture I wish to share. Even though I have been blogging for a couple of years, I feel like I’m just now able to distinguish between the various styles of personal blogging and to understand the forms. This realization makes me want to steer my own blog in a better defined direction; by relying more on our everyday life, I will attempt to create a personal blog that flows better, all the while staying clear of mundane blabber. I read this amazing blog the other day; its strength lies in the very accurate conveying emotions and sentiments – moments of reflections – and it truly moved me. It’s written by a woman who lives a life quite different from mine, but because of her fantastic ability to express herself, reading her blog is an experience rather than a story. I’m far from being able to write like that; it not only requires strength, personal insight and self perception, but also an ability to express emotion in a way that’s simply too much for my Scandinavian character. I’m hoping though, that the bit of thought I’ve put into the art of blogging recently, will reflect on my writing in some way.

Lovely Lady of La Leche, most loving mother of the Child Jesus, and my mother, listen to my humble prayer. Your motherly heart knows my every wish, my every need. To you only, His spotless Virgin Mother, has your Divine Son given to understand the sentiments which fill my soul. Yours was the sacred privilege of being the Mother of the Savior. Intercede with him now, my loving Mother, that, in accordance with His will, I may become the mother of other children of our heavenly Father. This I ask, O Lady of La Leche, in the Name of your Divine Son, My Lord and Redeemer. Amen.

Jennifer! How sweet of you to mention my blog. I think it can be a tough call. Sometimes one anecdote can give a wonderful glimpse into everyday life. But I totally know what you're saying here. We'll be in Cairo from June 24 - Aug. 12 so hopefully we'll get a chance to connect. Thanks again for your kind words...
Leah
