The joys of home schooling

After a few months of struggling, August has finally started reading well enough that he is able to read books to William. They're so cute when they cuddle up on the couch together after lunch every day! August also likes to help William with his school work, and here he is teaching William about numbers.

I've realized that apart from all the obvious advantages home schooling offers - concentrated learning, personal assistance, comfort and level adjustment, only to mention a few - it also makes it easier for the boys to enjoy their extra curriculum activites. Because of the calm environment at home, and because we can set our own schedule, the boys are never exhausted after our school work is done and are always excited to go play baseball/go swimming/go to Taekwondo or whatever we have set out. I've heard other non-home schooling mothers talk about how tired their children are after school, and how difficult that makes it for them to enjoy sports or music, and I'm glad I don't have this worry.

Lovely Lady of La Leche, most loving mother of the Child Jesus, and my mother, listen to my humble prayer. Your motherly heart knows my every wish, my every need. To you only, His spotless Virgin Mother, has your Divine Son given to understand the sentiments which fill my soul. Yours was the sacred privilege of being the Mother of the Savior. Intercede with him now, my loving Mother, that, in accordance with His will, I may become the mother of other children of our heavenly Father. This I ask, O Lady of La Leche, in the Name of your Divine Son, My Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
