Tennis and a charity event at the Hard Rock Cafe; weekend in Cairo

Yesterday I ran 1 ½ miles around the CAC track and then played tennis with Nate for over an hour, all the while the boys played at the playground. I used to play a lot of badminton when I was younger, and it was good fun to use a racket again.

In the afternoon we hung out and in the evening Maddy, ‘the fun and beautiful baby sitter’ as August calls her, watched the boys while I went to the
Hard Rock cafe at the Grand Hyatt Cairo downtown to hear The Fuuls, our downstairs neighbors Nate & Eden and their friend Jeff Harding, perform at a charity event.

It was a nice evening, buffet food and beer, and although I’ve heard the Fuuls practice many times, it’s always very special to see them perform. They are true professionals. Nate dedicated
Bob Dylan’s Wallflower to Courtney, one of the few songs by his otherwise favorite singer and songwriter that Courtney doesn’t like. They sang it beautifully.

All the kids slept over at our house, and after a huge pancake breakfast this morning, they’re all still in their pajamas playing a game downstairs. I’m taking a moment to rest. Eden might have said it before, but this morning was the first time I ever had to say, “Courtesy of Nate, my butt muscles are really sore!”

Lovely Lady of La Leche, most loving mother of the Child Jesus, and my mother, listen to my humble prayer. Your motherly heart knows my every wish, my every need. To you only, His spotless Virgin Mother, has your Divine Son given to understand the sentiments which fill my soul. Yours was the sacred privilege of being the Mother of the Savior. Intercede with him now, my loving Mother, that, in accordance with His will, I may become the mother of other children of our heavenly Father. This I ask, O Lady of La Leche, in the Name of your Divine Son, My Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
