Weekend in Maadi; CAC and water rumors

Yesterday, Courtney & I went over to the CAC with the boys and our downstairs neighbors’ youngest boy for a couple of hours. I went for a run on the tracks, Courtney sat down to read, and the boys played soccer and games on the playground. After a couple of laps I ran into a good friend and her son finishing up a game of tennis, so she joined Courtney on the bench, and her son played with the boys. A few laps later, a good friend of my friend had joined in the chat, and a couple of more children had showed up to join in the games. If you’re looking for a couple of casual hours of chatting and running into friends or meeting new friends, the CAC on a weekend is definitely your place!

The matter of water came up, of course, and yes, we still have water. It has not been turned off. I guess it still could get turned off any minute without warning, but this - being Cairo - is something we’ve learned to live with. We’re moving at a slow but steady pace, carry lots of patience and spontaneity, don’t get upset when things go wrong knowing that God is almighty here (literally), and that things will (probably) always work out in the end. In shah Allah.

Lovely Lady of La Leche, most loving mother of the Child Jesus, and my mother, listen to my humble prayer. Your motherly heart knows my every wish, my every need. To you only, His spotless Virgin Mother, has your Divine Son given to understand the sentiments which fill my soul. Yours was the sacred privilege of being the Mother of the Savior. Intercede with him now, my loving Mother, that, in accordance with His will, I may become the mother of other children of our heavenly Father. This I ask, O Lady of La Leche, in the Name of your Divine Son, My Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
