In September we excitedly signed up for an Orbit satellite package, anticipating the delight of finally being able to watch the Major League Baseball World Series on television. Orbit, which is Egypt’s more sports oriented satellite provider, does not show all the great series (such as Grey’s Anatomy) we have enjoyed in the past; for this we should have chosen a Showtime subscription, but we decided that the everyday television shows were not as valuable as the World Series, and opted against Showtime, choosing Orbit instead. As it turns out, we were lied to. The World Series schedule was indeed listed on Orbit’s website, but when it was time for the first game, it wasn’t on. As soon as we noticed that something was wrong, we called Orbit’s customer service and were promised that somebody from production would get back to us within 48 hours. When we didn’t hear anything back we called again and were told the same thing. Today, a week after the World Series is over without us having seen a single game, I called Orbit and calmly but firmly put forth a complaint. My words of dissapointment and anger were indifferently received by a customer service agent who probably couldn’t care less. When I finally asked to cancel our satellite package, he told me that we had signed a 1-year contract and that we could not cancel our subscription until next September. “Is there anything else I can do for you today, madam?” the agent asked with a concluding tone. “Oh no, you’ve been quite a call agent!” I thought.
My first enterprise after this unjust and odious treatment is this blog entry, and I will most certainly not settle here; I was ready to give up Grey’s Anatomy for the pleasure of seeing my husband in utter ecstasy during that exciting week in October, but when it turns out that my sacrifice was for nothing, I’m going to take this as far as I can.

Lovely Lady of La Leche, most loving mother of the Child Jesus, and my mother, listen to my humble prayer. Your motherly heart knows my every wish, my every need. To you only, His spotless Virgin Mother, has your Divine Son given to understand the sentiments which fill my soul. Yours was the sacred privilege of being the Mother of the Savior. Intercede with him now, my loving Mother, that, in accordance with His will, I may become the mother of other children of our heavenly Father. This I ask, O Lady of La Leche, in the Name of your Divine Son, My Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
