A machine just did my dishes for me! I'm in total awe; what a relief - I have a dishwasher! No more boring hours in front of the sink washing dishes that are going to be dirtied instantly again - I can spend that time doing something more fun, productive or rewarding.
I realize that a dishwasher is not a novelty, not even in Egypt, but I have never been in the fortunate or economic position before where I was able to own a dishwasher, so to me, a whole new world has opened up.
There was a moment of terror of course, when I heard a large pop somewhere by the electrical socket, and watched as the electrical extension cord we bought yesterday fused and slowly melted the plastic around it, until it came apart entirely and the small fire went out. With a towel, I pulled what was left of it out of the wall and put it on the counter. Courtney is going to have to deal with our little eletricity problem when he gets home. But no worries, the dishwasher still works!

Lovely Lady of La Leche, most loving mother of the Child Jesus, and my mother, listen to my humble prayer. Your motherly heart knows my every wish, my every need. To you only, His spotless Virgin Mother, has your Divine Son given to understand the sentiments which fill my soul. Yours was the sacred privilege of being the Mother of the Savior. Intercede with him now, my loving Mother, that, in accordance with His will, I may become the mother of other children of our heavenly Father. This I ask, O Lady of La Leche, in the Name of your Divine Son, My Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
